All-Inclusive vs Plus-Expenses: How Yacht Charter Pricing Actually Works

The two pricing models behind every charter quote, and the three questions that tell you what a week will really cost.

Two yachts can quote you $30,000 for the same week and land $10,000 apart by checkout. The difference is the pricing model.

Caribbean Terms

All-inclusive

The weekly rate covers the yacht, the crew, all meals, a standard ship’s bar, fuel for normal cruising, dockage, mooring fees, and cruising permits. Standard in the BVI crewed catamaran fleet.

The other model

Plus-expenses

The quoted rate is the yacht and crew only. Food, drinks, fuel, dockage — billed at cost against an allowance paid up front, settled at the end.

All-inclusive (Caribbean Terms)

The weekly rate covers the yacht, the crew, all meals, a standard ship’s bar, fuel for normal cruising, dockage, mooring fees, and cruising permits. This is standard in the BVI crewed catamaran fleet. What you still pay separately: crew gratuity (customarily 15–20%), your travel to the yacht, and premium requests.

Plus-expenses (the other model)

Typical of other yachts, mostly large motor yachts and Mediterranean charters — not of Allegra. The quoted rate is the yacht and crew only. Everything else — food, drinks, fuel, dockage — is billed at cost against an allowance you pay up front, typically 25–35% of the charter fee, settled at the end.

$40k→ $55k

A $40,000 base can become $55,000 by checkout. Plenty of good yachts run this way. Allegra never bills expenses on top of the weekly rate. Ever.

How to compare two quotes fairly

Ask every yacht three questions:

01

Is food included, and at what level?

02

Is the bar included, and which bar?

03

Are fuel, dockage, and permits included?

A yacht that answers all three in writing is a yacht you can budget. A yacht that answers “it’s usually around…” is a plus-expenses yacht in disguise.

Where Allegra sits

Fully all-inclusive, Caribbean Terms, and the rates are public on our site: $32,000–$35,000 per week by group size, with a live availability calendar. The only thing you will ever pay beyond the weekly rate is crew gratuity — no provisioning allowance, no fuel surcharge, no end-of-charter settlement. We put the numbers on the website because a week like this should be easy to say yes to.
