The short answer
For a fully crewed, all-inclusive catamaran in the British Virgin Islands, expect to pay between $20,000 and $70,000+ per week. Smaller cats with two crew start around $20,000–$30,000. Modern 50–60 foot luxury cats run $30,000–$60,000. The largest crewed yachts go well past $70,000. Aboard Allegra, a 55-foot Bali 5.4 with captain and chef, a week runs $32,000–$35,000 depending on your group size — about $4,400 per person when eight of you split it.
What drives the price
Yacht size and age
Newer, larger cats cost more. A 2020s 55-footer with four ensuite cabins sits in the middle of the market.
Group size
Most crewed charters price by the week for the yacht, then scale slightly with headcount because provisioning costs rise with each guest.
Season
Peak season in the BVI runs from December to the end of April. Shoulder and summer weeks (May to the end of July) are easier to book and sometimes priced lower.
What is included
The big one, and where quotes get confusing. A lower-looking quote that bills meals, bar, fuel and dockage separately can cost more by checkout.
A proper all-inclusive rate covers the yacht, crew, meals, bar, fuel, dockage, and permits. We wrote a full breakdown in all-inclusive vs plus-expenses, explained.

What “all-inclusive” should cover
On a proper all-inclusive (Caribbean Terms) charter, the weekly rate covers nearly everything. A short list stays extra.
- The yacht, captain, and chef
- All meals and the standard ship’s bar
- Fuel for normal cruising
- Dockage and mooring fees
- Cruising permits
- Crew gratuity (customary at 15–20%)
- Your travel to the BVI
- Premium bar or special requests
The per-person math most people miss
A private crewed yacht sounds like a billionaire purchase until you divide by the group. Eight guests at $35,000 a week is about $4,400 a person — cabin, meals, drinks, crew, and islands included.
Now price the same week at a high-end hotel. A top BVI resort runs about $1,000 to $1,500 a night for a standard room — room only, before tax and resort fees. Then add what the hotel does not include: three meals a day plus drinks for eight people at resort prices runs a conservative $200 to $300 per person per day (estimate).
The hotel week
The private yacht week
And the hotel week still comes with a shared beach, a shared pool, and a reservation book for dinner. Allegra includes the chef cooking every meal, the ship’s bar, the captain, the water toys, and a new anchorage every day. No buffet line, no $18 cocktails, no fighting for a pool chair. The private yacht is not the splurge. Done right, it is the better deal.
